Explore West Highland Way and Crianlarich
Crianlarich is a superb base from which to explore Glencoe, Inveraray Castle, Callander and The Trossachs - a wide area of the Scottish Highlands and Central Scotland.
Crianlarich is a good 'half-way point' along the West Highland Way - in total, this is a long distance walk of some 100 miles.
Within an hour's drive are more sightseeing opportunities such as Stirling Castle, Fort William at the base of Ben Nevis and the city of Glasgow. The town of Oban offers even more attractions as you can catch a tiny ferry to the remote, green island of Kerrera or take one of the regular ferries to the Isle of Mull.
Alternatively you can drive to the Glenfinnan Visitor Centre and walk up the track for a bird’s eye view of the Glenfinnan Monument, Loch Shiel, and Glenfinnan viaduct – made famous by the Harry Potter films. During the summer you can take the Jacobite steam train from Fort William to Mallaig and cross the viaduct.
